IN MEMORIAM: Jessie M. Scott

Jessie M. Scott, retired assistant surgeon general, US Public Health Service, and the second director of the Division of Nursing, Health Resources Administration, died October 20 at age 94. She was a nurse educator before entering public service. The American Nurses Association administers the biannual Jessie M. Scott Leadership Award and the University of Maryland offers the annual Jessie M. Scott Health Policy Award. Dr. Scott was named a living legend by the American Academy of Nursing.
