Every day, around five rape survivors visit the government hospital in Dhaka for a medical examination that will facilitate legal action against their attackers. These are traumatised women who have mustered the courage to register the crime in a society that transfers the burden of shame on to the victim. However, many of them baulk at the insensitivity of the examination and give up their quest for justice. What makes a bad situation worse is the fact that the forensic department in the hospital is facing an acute shortage of female doctors, which results in the mandatory full body examination being conducted by male doctors.

* "If there are adequate female doctors, no tortured woman will go back without being examined."
