The Columbus Dispatch out of Central Ohio reports that a registered sex offender who was still under die Adult Parole Authority's supervision was shot on March 27 while allegedly trying to break in to an apartment. The tenant told authorities that he defended himself from the much larger man and was forced to shoot Charles R. Sprague, 35, outside the three-unit complex. The renter also told authorities that he warned Sprague to leave before firing what ended up being a fatal shot. Sprague was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Detective James Day of the Columbus Police Homicide Squad told the news, "The shooter was acting in self-defense. . .. [The aggressor] actually tried to force his way into the apartment at the back door when this occurred."
