VP Racing Fuels, the official racing fuel of NHRA, will continue its support of the VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions at the North Central Division NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals and the VP Racing Fuels Top Sportsman Shootout during the NHRA Doorslammer National Open.
This year marks the 10th consecutive year of the VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions, a special race showcasing the top points representatives in Super Pro, Pro E.T., Sportsman, and Super Pro Bike from each of the 22 member tracks participating in the NHRA Summit Racing Series.
Driver introductions will take place on stage in front of the Parks Tower at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis prior to the Race of Champions eliminations Friday afternoon, Sept. 17. A $5,200 cash purse is up for grabs. In addition, winners are awarded a Wally, champion photo sign, and VP fuel. Runners-up receive plaques, and each qualifier receives special decals.
VP Racing Fuels has also renewed its sponsorship of the Top Sportsman VP Racing Fuels Shootout, which will return to Ohio Valley Dragway as part of the 34th annual NHRA Doorslammer National Open (Oct. 2-3).
Qualifying points earned at each of this year's Division 3 Top Sportsman Series events beginning with the season opener in Indianapolis April 23-25 and concluding with the JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals Sept. 24-26 will determine the eight-car field. Thirty-two points will be awarded to No. 1 qualifier, 31 to the No. 2, and so on.
The Top Sportsman VP Racing Fuels Shootout will be conducted during qualifying sessions on Saturday of the National Open and will follow the standard Top Sportsman handicapped eliminations. Each of the eight qualifiers participating in the shootout will receive VP fuel and a plaque. The winner will collect $1,000, the runner-up $500, and each semifinalist $250.
