With Tim Wilkerson reaching back-to-back Funny Car finals - and winning at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals - he has set his sights on the top five as opposed to just worrying about making the playoffs. Del Worsham hasn't been quite that hot, but he has been going rounds consistently and gotten himself off of the Funny Car bubble. Unless something crazy happens at the four races remaining in the regular season, the final spot will probably be a two-driver race between Tony Pedregon and Jeff Arend. Meanwhile, Cory McClenathan (Top Fuel), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock), and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle) locked up their berths in the Countdown to 1, joining Larry Dixon and Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel and Mike Edwards in Pro Stock. Edwards can clinch the top seed in Seattle if he leaves with a 450-point lead; he is ahead of Johnson by 392.
