OLD BRIDGE TOWNSHIP RACEWAY PARK, Reading (May 30)
-Joe Seibert, Steven VanCraeynest, Brian Mullaney, Bob Carlson, and Rob Farley earned NHRA Wallys as National DRAGSTER Challenge champions at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
Seibert, driving his '07 Race Tech dragster, defeated Lenny Catalanotto in the Manley Performance Products Super E.T. final. Seibert pushed Catalanotto's '72 Plymouth Duster to a breakout 10.933 (10.94 dial) with a perfect 7.200.
Mullaney drove himself to two final-round appearances and defeated current track points leader Bill Hakucsa in the Street E.T. final. Mullaney's better reaction time against Hakucsa gave him the advantage on the top end of the dragstrip for a safe 11.844 (11.81) win over Hakucsa's close 11.524 (11.50).
Mullaney fell short of two category victories for the day when he was defeated in the Liftec Forklifts Pro E.T. final by VanCraeynest. VanCraeynest, driving his newly built '94 Camaro, made the smart decision to let Mullaney take the stripe and earned the win when Mullaney broke out with an 11.813 (11.82) to VanCraeynest's 9.442 (9.44).
In Motorcycle/Snowmobile, Carlson's consistently dialed '08 Kawasaki ZX14 motorcycle earned the win light over Tony Pasquale in the final round. Pasquale had a .006 reaction time, but the bike slowed to a 10.771 (10.64). Carlson ran a 9.552 (9.54) for the win.
Farley earned his second Top Street win and first National DRAGSTER Challenge title with a 10.081 (10.05) over Chris Cassidy, who broke out with a 10.329 (10.33). - Jeanne Linke
