Though the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national titles in Top Alcohol Dragster (Bill Reichert), Top Alcohol Funny Car (Frank Manzo), Comp (Al Ackerman), and Super Gas (David Tatum III) are all but a forgone conclusion, battles are raging in Super Stock, Stock, and Super Comp as the season winds to a close. In Super Stock, Ryan McClanahan has the lead, but Lincoln Morehead is just seven points behind, and Tony Mandella and Sal Biondo remain in the hunt. The battle for the Stock title figures to go down to the wire as several strong competitors are still in the running. Brad Burton has maintained the points lead for much of the season, but he has company atop the leader board; Slate Cummings moved into second place following his runner-up finish in Noble, Okla. Reigning champ Edmond Richardson still has a shot, as do Tyler Wudarczyk, Jody Lang, and Dustan Lowell. Luke Bogacki has the lead in Super Comp, but he cannot claim any additional points, and some of his closest pursuers, including third-ranked Gary Stinnett and fourth-ranked Richardson (both former multitime champs), are lurking.
