ESTA SAFETY PARK, Cicero, N.Y. (Sept. 12) - ESTA held its the 50th Anniversary race, New York NHRA Drag Racing State Championships event, and National DRAGSTER Challenge with Wallys and points up for grabs.

In Super Pro, it was Chuck White driving his '74 AMC to the win by defeating Eric Bunal's '87 Regal. White held the reaction-time advantage, .514 to .548, and he won it with a 10.59 on his 10.56 dial while Bunal settled for the runner-up spot with a 9.11 on his 9.09 dial. Billy Caprara was the semifinalist.

In Pro, Jason Hemingway, in his '87 Camaro, stopped points leader Howard Roberts' '72 Duster. Hemingway used a .529-initiated 9.99 on his 9.93 dial to score the win. Roberts missed the Tree with a .609 light and wasted his 9.593 on his 9.59 dial. Myles Higby and Mike LaRose Jr. were semifinalists.

Herb Bingel made a rare race appearance pay off when he rode his '98 Ski-Doo to the Pro MX win. Bingel had his work cut out for him in the final, stopping this year's Pro Sled Shootout winner, Heath Smith, and his '07 Polaris. Bingel held the reaction-time advantage, .516 to .540, and won with an 11.03 on his 11.00 dial. Smith gave it his best shot but ran under his 9.10 dial with a 9.08. Ron Smith was the semifinalist.

Street Money action saw Todd Lipke drive his '70 Chevelle to the win, stopping Theodore Lewis' '86 Monte Carlo. In a very close final round, Lipke had a .515 light and ran an 11.75 on his 11.06 dial while Lewis had a .526 light and ran a 12.25 on his 12.23 dial for the runner-up spot. Anthony Rotolo and Travis Brown were semifinalists.

Bill Lake defeated April Martin in the Modified final; Jessica Caprara was the semifinalist. Anthony Zangari won Street Trophy over Todd Minerd; Natalie Dodson and Rotolo were semifinalists. David Ashby won the Bike/Sled Trophy final; Chrissy Klein was the semifinalist. Justin Hardman scored in Jr. Dragster A; Morgan Bunal was runner-up, and Shaquille Scott was the semifinalist. Dunham Hall won Jr. Dragster B by stopping Shannon Harrison in the final; Casey BeDell was the semifinalist. Steve Doss won the Adam Carlson 10.50 Index Race over Scott Forbes; Mark Talmadge was the semifinalist. Klein won the Susan G. Komen Draggin' for a Cure race, defeating Jessica DeSiato; Gary Rolfe Jr. and Mike Parker were semifinalists. - Pete DeSalvo Jr.
