The Nov. 10 What's Shakin' article "Expect the Unexpected" by Ed Griffin- Nolan (Nov. 10-17), referred to Air One, the county's helicopter, as being "axed from {County Executive Joanie} Mahoney's budget proposal." The operating budget for the helicopter was cut out of Mahoney's budget proposal by the County Legislature; Mahoney then vetoed the cut, restoring the funding for the helicopter and forestalling its sale. The Legislature approved operating funds for six months and charged Sheriff Kevin Walsh with taking steps to provide non-tax revenue sources beyond July 1, 2011.
