Angels for AIDS

AIDS Community Resources seeks individuals, families, churches, schools and businesses to become Holiday Angels for a client and their family. These angels provide items like clothing, shoes or toiletries. The organization has a list of what each client needs, and you may supply as many or as few items on the list as you wish. South Side Santas

Syracuse high school students are encouraged to apply for a scholarship named in memory of the South Side businessman who first proposed them. One Charles Dozier III Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at the 13th annual South Side tree-lighting ceremony on Dec. 6. Applications for the $500 scholarship are available at city high school guidance offices. Applications must be submitted no later than Nov. 24. For more information, call 729-0850.

Green Guardian

Each December, the Syracuse Parks Conservancy board of trustees announces an individual or group that will receive the Guardian Award, given for exceptional commitment, vision, leadership and dedication to promoting and preserving the beauty of parks and green spaces. Nominations are accepted until Dec. 1, and they can be submitted in person or by mail to: Syracuse Parks Conservancy, 212 Melrose Ave., Syracuse 13206.

Green Christmas

These days, it's essential to find creative ways to save money, especially at this time of year. The Fulton Alliance Church is helping out, by holding Christmas on a Budget. This free event takes place Saturday, Nov. 20, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. It features guest speakers and informational booths sharing practical ways to save for the holidays; door prizes and refreshments will be supplied.
