The good news: The Oct. 15 Ramsey Lewis Trio concert at Onondaga Community College sold out; the bad news: the Oct. 15 Ramsey Lewis Trio concert at Onondaga Community College sold out. As a result, OCC has devised a fairer way for the public to obtain tickets to the remaining three shows in the Legends of Jazz Series. The change will go into effect Monday, Nov. 8, for the Nov. 19 Diane Schuur show.
Tickets will now be available on a first-come, first-served basis at Sound Garden, 310 W. Jefferson St. Series producer Frank Malfitano explains the change this way: "As we're ramping things up, we need to professionalize the box office service. I immediately thought of Sound Garden because they handle ticketing all the time. So we are directing everybody to the website {www.sunyocc.edu, then click on Arts and Culture}, which is in turn directing everybody to Sound Garden."
There will now also be a ticket limit of two per person, and seating is first-come, first-seated. "The goal is to have a capacity audience for every performance so that artists are playing to a full house, and to serve as many members of the community as possible," Malfitano adds. "If the demand is huge, we have the option to add a second show for each show in the series, at 10 p.m. We don't want to turn anybody away."
Tickets for the March 4 Treme Brass Band concert will be available Feb. 14, and for the April 2 concert by Dr. Lonnie Smith on March 14.
