Mary Lou Williams - a star of her gender when jazz was a man's world, except for singers. She could write, arrange for any ensemble, a leader of vision, and she sure could play a mess of piano for half a century. This double-CD is the complete work of just one date at Rick's and there's not one disappointing track. Well, she never, ever let record buyers down in her entire career, and this is no exception. She left this earth in May, 1981.

Thirteen tracks of these well-recorded blues, boogies and standards were previously released on Storyville STCD 8285 but with this you get more than double the pleasure.
