The team from Firebird Raceway racked up 63 points during the Northwest Division NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals to earn its seventh overall Team Championship and a belated birthday present for Firebird Raceway owner Bill New, who put out the challenge to his team at last year's banquet. Leading the individual champions were Bremerton Raceway's Dave Barcelon in Super Pro, Woodburn Dragstrip's Steve Stuart in Pro and Derrick Jackson in Sportsman, and Renegade Raceways' Bob Henrie in Motorcycle/Sled. On Saturday, the Race of Champions was held, and the four winners earned the right to compete in the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship in Pomona. Those champions were Pacific Raceways' Dale Green in Super Pro and Paul Comeau in Pro, M.H.D.R.A. Dragstrip's Mark Faul in Sportsman, and Mission Raceway's Kevin Brennan in Motorcycle/Sled. In addition, Firebird Raceway's Christopher Northrup won the High School title, and Bremerton Raceway's Brianna Lindsey and Portland Int'l Raceway's Ken Lang won in Jr. Thunder and Jr. Lightning, respectively. Compete results will appear in an upcoming issue.
