The description of the achievements of the PMI South Florida Chapter, located in Florida, USA, which was related in November PMI Today in connection with the chapter's receipt of the PMI Component of the Year - Recognition of Excellence, Chapter Category III, was incorrectly based on the chapter's achievements in 2009, rather than its achievements in 2008, the year on which the award was based.

Patricia Garofano, PMP, president of the chapter in 2008, sent the following information about chapter activities in that year:

The PMI South Florida Chapter held the second annual project competition at the University of Miami and awarded US$2,200 in scholarship money to the top winning teams. The chapter held its first-ever dinner meetings in Palm Beach County to provide value to our neighbors in the northern part of our area and, for the first time, committed a five-year contribution of US$10,000 to the PMI Educational Foundation.

The chapter was honored with a from PMI President and CEO Gregory Balestrero for a meeting in collaboration with the Construction Specifications tute (CSI) South Florida Chapters. He spoke to a roundtable breakfast attended by executives from local corporations, followed by an association networking session attended by leaders of local professional organizations. That evening, he spoke to the attendees at our largest chapter dinner meeting with attendance of over 250.

Mr. Balestrero also helped the chapter kick off its new Center of Excellence program, which is designed to provide a medium for business leaders to share project management best practices and lessons learned in the attainment of business results, while also building relationships with leading industries in South Florida. The chapter continues to leverage this visit through periodic executive breakfasts hosted by the Center of Excellence.
